Movie Quotes
"Pity the Incas of Peru didn't have movies. They had popcorn." ~ L. M. Boyd
"Directing is really exciting: In the end, it is more fun to be the painter than the paint" ~ George Clooney, Film actor. And director.
"That's Hollywood - people make records, make movies, and sue each other all the time" ~ Avi Arad, Chief Executive, Marvel Comics.
"You're the only dumpling I've ever loved" ~ Said to be Oliver Hardy's first words in 'Yes, Yes Nanette'; except that it was silent, and the words on the caption were probably written by Stan Laurel.
"Play
it again, Sam" ~ Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) never actually said that
deathless line in 'Casablanca'; it's a careless misquotation that has stuck. At
one point in the film, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) says: "Play it Sam, play
'As Time Goes By'"
Later on, Rick (Bogie) says: "If you played
it for her, you can play it for me - If she can stand it, I can. Play it!".
"I don't want to attain immortality through my art, I want to attain it through not dying." ~ Woody Allan, Film director and actor.
"Not many people know that" ~ Catchphrase attributed to Sir Michael Caine; he denies it, claiming it all started with Peter Sellars imitating his voice.
"Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a damn" ~ Clark Gable's quotation from 'Gone with the Wind'. Rhett Butler's exclamation is widely claimed to be the last words in the film; not so; Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh), had the last word with: "I'll think about that tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day."
