Notes for new visitors ...

To those for whom it is not obvious ... I didn't compose all the wonderful examples of the eccentricities of the English language that you see on these pages; I have merely had the honour of gathering them together. Where I know of a specific source, I cite it - but many of these items have had a life of their own for generations, while others may have been coined just last week. I'm always very pleased to receive information, of authorship, first publication - or new ones you've thought of yourself!
