Sentence Unscrambler – Phrase Unscrambler
There are games online where a computer program scrambles the letters in a phrase or sentence and you must unscramble the words to win the game. In fact, there are a variety of sentence unscramble games. Some provide several anagrams that make up a sentence, which require you to unscramble each word and place them in order.
I’ve found more traditional word unscrambler games like ones we’ve talked about before. I’ve even encountered one where the letters of words in a long sentence are in order, but the words are scrambled, requiring you to build a sentence that makes sense from the words.
Sentence Unscrambler – Phrase Unscrambler
What’s most interesting is that I’ve found people often search for “phrase unscrambler” or “sentence unscrambler”, so there is an online community of wordsmiths who need sentences unscrambled occasionally. I’ve found there are people who want Spanish sentences unscrambled a lot, too.
So I’ll try to cover word unscramble games and text twist games, while also providing information where you might find an online tool to unscramble sentences and other internet resources for phrase unscrambling.
Text Twist and Super Text Twist
Text Twist and Super Text Twist are free downloadable word games you can find on any number of sites online. You’re given an anagram of up to seven letters to unscramble in Text Twist and are timed to see how long it takes to unscramble the words. For instance, the basic TextTwist game gives you 2 minutes for unscrambling words. The quicker you get the words unscrambled, the higher your score and the more words you have for unscrambling. In many ways, Text Twist and Super Text Twist are similar to the famous word puzzle game, Jumble.
I’ve seen people ask for word unscramblers and phrase unscramblers to play Text Twist online (for the purposes of cheating, of course). I even saw a message board where a guy was wanting someone to post a quick website he could get words unscrambled, because his girlfriend kept beating him at Online Text Twist. He wanted to cheat with a word scrambler/unscrambler and turn the tables on her. I never learned if this rogue ever pulled off his plans.
Unscrambling Sentences
I found one website on Geocities that where you must unscramble a long sentence. The words to be unscrambled were “is the According enduring Mafia image to attributed author the most Italian-Americans to , sterotype the .”
I set about trying to unscramble the sentence by starting with “According”, since it was one of the three capitalized words given, but the only one that would have to be found at the start of a sentence to be capitalized. This became “According to the author, the Italian-Americans image is attributed most to the enduring Mafia stereotype.” Another “correct” sentence unscramble is “According to the author, the enduring Mafia sterotype is attributed most to the Italian-Americans image.” I’m not sure about the grammar of either sentence, but it’s a nice exercise anyway.
Sentence Unscramblers Online – Internet Phrase Unscramblers
Unscramble (.) net allows you to unscramble words quickly. Words 2.0 is another online source for unscrambling words and phrases. Grecni (.) com allows you to unscramble words for Text Twist, but you end up unscrambling so many words that it gets confusing.
