Word Smart
Word Smart by Princeton Review is a 400-page book which helps people build their vocabularies effectively and pragmatically. Learning a good vocabulary is learning words that help you communicate, so the Princeton Review performed research to find the English words that are most often misused or misunderstood. Also, Word Smart (on its 4th Edition) covers the words that are tested most frequently on tests like the SAT.
Readers here at Word Skit probably have some interest in building a vocabulary to impress, whether you’re bent on impressing the person grading your test, interviewing you for a job or just living across the street.
Word Smart – Building an Educated Vocabulary
A lot of people keep “Word Smart” on their desk, to help them write smarter and build their vocabulary with a word-of-the-day program. Word Smart was originally designed to help students prepare for standardized tests, so some of the more recent graduates are probably aware of the Word Smart series (and might despise them). But the Word Smart Series from Princeton Review is well-written and pithy, and a number of writers and business professionals (including myself) use these Word Smart books to polish up their vocabulary.
