Words of Wisdom
After going on a bit of a rant during my “good with words” discussion yesterday, let’s finish the week on a pleasant and uplifting subject.
I love reading the Quotes Websites that have “Words of Wisdom” pages. You’ll find many permutations of wisdom quotes sites. Some might call themselves “Inspirational Quotes” sites, while others might consider themselves “Motivational Quotes” websites. If you have a particular belief system, you might look up words of wisdom under categories like “Religious Quotes” or “Faith Quotes” or even “famous proverbs”. So when you’re looking for a little bit of extra motivation or a daily quote for inspiration, there are a lot of options out there.
Words of Wisdom Websites – Inspirational Topics
Typical wise quotes websites will offer topics like attitude, courage, creativity, difficulties, happiness, hope, human relationships, illness, leadership, life potential, love & marriage, self-mastery, strength, youth & aging and success. Search out quotes that discuss any of these topics and you’ll find words to inspire you to new heights. Words of wisdom can be as elaborate or involved as short essays to teach lessons you can apply for everyday life, or short quotes that can ring in your head all day while you deal with family stresses or get prepared for a presentation at work.
Words of Wisdom Examples
Let’s give an example of what we’re talking about. Self-mastery and self-improvement quotes might involve something simple like, “Not to advance is to regress.” Or if you are struggling with the ability to forgive someone or learn forgiveness, you can find a quote like “A loving heart is the truest wisdom” or “The more a man knows, the more he forgives”. (Frankly, I’m not sure if that last phrase of wisdom is correct, because men who know a lot often lord it over those who don’t. Knowledge isn’t wisdom, I think, but I’ll try not to be argumentative.)
Inspirational Quotes
Largely, though, words of wisdom are usually hard to argue with. When you hear, “You are successful the moment you start moving towards a worthwhile good,” I think most people will agree with this. Maybe not, if you’re the type who believes winning is the only success. But then, if you define winning as the only worthwhile goal, then you will translate the quote “You are successful the moment you start moving towards winning.” Write me if you disagree.
Motivational Quotes – Leadership Quotes
If you run a business or manage a call center, you’re likely to need inspirational leadership quotes every once in a while. There are lots of great quotes sites that will help everyday leaders get through the day and lead their people. One of my favorite leadership quotes is from Napoleon Bonaparte, who said, “A leader is a dealer in hope.”
I very much think that’s the case. Leaders of men tend to be eternal optimists, because they have to maintain a store of confidence and hope that a great goal can be accomplished. In maintaining their own hope in their cause, leaders can inspire and motivate others. While being an optimist can lead a man into serious blunders, like that whole Russian Campaign thing, “dealing in hope” is something every leader must do with their followers at one time or another.
Women’s Words of Wisdom
People can find even more particular websites full of wise words and words of wisdom, such as “Womens Words of Wisdom”, which has motivational quotes for women by women. Some of the featured famous wise women include Abigail Adams, Nellie Bly, Harriet Tubbman, Dorothea Dix, Helen Hayes, Julia Ward Howe, Susan B. Anthony and Rachel Carson. As you’ll see, you can get a wide variety of opinions and life experiences from these words of wisdom.
