Definition of Coterie – Dictionary Coterie

My word of the week is “coterie”. I’m going to post my definition of “coterie” here along with some thoughts about why I like the word so well.

Coterie(noun) A small group of people (sometimes soldiers) united by a common bond or loyalty.

Example in use: CARPGA is a coterie of roleplaying game enthusiasts who research the tabletop roleplaying game hobby.

Another example: Elvis Presley’s coterie of bodyguards and hangers-on were known as “the Memphis Mafia”.

I know this is a blog post and not a dictionary entry, but I thought it might be fun to include a word of the week here, and today’s word of the week is “coterie”.
